Junk Gypsy™ Chalk & Clay Paint
What don't we love about this paint??? We are an authorized retailer and have paint available to purchase! The colors are vibrant and beautiful, so easy to use and backed by the Junk Gypsy Queens! Can be used on wood (finished or unfinished), metal, glass, fabric, and ceramic.
One 8oz sample size can paint a small table or dresser, or other small projects, depending on the technique of application and the surface being painted.
Prep: Begin by removing all debris from your piece. Wash your piece thoroughly with warm soapy water and degreasing solution if necessary (50/50 Water and Vinegar Mix) Although most vintage finds do not require sanding or priming, better adhesion can be achieved with lightly sanding previously to painting.
Application: Stir paint thoroughly before using. Apply paint with good quality brush or foam roller. Allow paint to dry before applying a second coat. After dry if desired, distress paint using a damp cloth or medium to fine grit sandpaper.
Depending on climate, paint will be dry to the touch within 30-60 minutes. Allow more time in very humid climates.
Finishing your piece can be simply buffed with a dry cloth, or can be sealed using our Clear Coat finish for ultimate protection.
Thinning is not necessary, however for a variety of looks and techniques, paint can easily be thinned with water. Test with very small amounts to achieve your desired consistency.
The Junk Gypsies, mom Janie Sikes and sisters Amie and Jolie Sikes, founded their Texas-based company in 1998. Their style is a little bit hippie & a little bit rock 'n roll, with a whole lot of country heart and soul. Their HGTV & Great American Country show, Junk Gypsies, features the sisters as they take their rebellious, independent spirit and unique design philosophy on a special mission to find junk and use it to transform spaces. Their clientele includes music stars such as Miranda Lambert, Dierks Bentley, and Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day, along with a large and passionate fan base of fellow design rebels.
